Blog post 1 - introduction
Hi everyone! My name is Rie, and I’m excited to be taking ENVS 01 this semester. I enrolled in this class because its a major course for my major, and it seemed pretty interesting. I’m hoping this course helps me better understand topics like how science, policy, and individual choices all play a role in shaping our environment. I’m especially interested in learning how environmental problems start and how they end up becoming such big issues over time. A lot of the environmental topics we hear about in the news can feel overwhelming or confusing, so I’m looking forward to breaking them down in a way that actually makes sense and feels more realistic. I also want to be more aware of how my everyday habits affect the environment and learn what small but practical changes I can make. Outside of school, one of my biggest hobbies is supercars and automotive design, which I realize is a slightly ironic interest for someone in an environmental studies class.
